Corniche 6

Through various community-led exchanges and workshops, the Corniche programme acts as a resource for identifying UAE and GCC-based illustrators and comic artists for community-centred projects and initiatives at Sharjah Art Foundation, including for the annual Corniche comic anthology. The sixth edition of Corniche weaves together a narrative that blends myth and magical realism, history and humour, psychological exploration and more. 

Ahmad Nabil, founder of the Fiction Council in Jerusalem and this edition’s special guest contributor, opens the Arabic section with a story exploring the aesthetic and psychological dimensions of myths, as well as the underlying truths behind them. Leading the English section, Abdelazim Al-Ghussein recounts the life path of a Palestinian family across generations and geographies, conveying a sense of hope and nostalgia—universal emotions that are deeply intertwined with the Palestinian cause.

The cover art by Nasir Nasrallah captures the conviviality, creative energy and collaborative spirit shared by the artists at Bait Obaid Al Shamsi, which overlooks the bustling Corniche Street and nearby harbour. As with previous editions, this diverse and ever-changing locale continues to inspire the stories within.
