ABOUT ME
Sharjah Art Foundation is proud to announce the release of the vinyl record of the album ‘Energia’ by Kawol SamarQandi, a seasoned session musician and a regular of the Japanese underground performance scene. The record showcases SamarQandi’s ‘poor music’ aesthetic—his minimalist and intentional approach to composition using as few notes as possible and an unfulfilled structure.
‘Energia’ captures the
artist’s solo performance of new music performed during his residency at the
Sharjah Art Foundation in April 2024. Reflecting a lifetime of music-making, it
is a masterclass in the possibilities of improvisation and the embrace of
silence as essential space. This album is a collaboration between Sharjah Art
Foundation and Ramble Records.
